gutload placement

I'm just curious as to where everyone here places the gutload. I have just been putting it right on the bottom of the bin I keep my crickets in, however I notice that a ton of poo and waste seems to build up... and I didn't want it necessarily close to the gutload.

Is this normal/okay... or has anyone done anything about it. I was thinking of doing a mesh lining on the bottom so waste could travel to the bottom where no food/crickets would come in contact

I use a lid from a butter dish or jar and just toss them or wash when they get dirty. I change out veggies and fruit for gutload after 48 hours max. Otherwise it will get nasty. Same thing with my water crystals.
