Happy 3rd Hatch Day To Cooper

My sweet boy Cooper is 3 years old today. He is the sweetest and most laid back chameleon ever. I have had him since he was two months old weighing only 8 grams. He's now a big 3 year old weighing 480 grams. We found out that Cooper has high blood pressure a few months ago and he is on medication for that. He has also had infected sores on the bottom of his hands, which are very common in parsonii because of their weight and their hands rubbing on the branches. I am happy to say after a long battle with the hands they are finally starting to show some improvement. I love this little man so much and have tons of photos to share.

Happy Hatch Day my precious boy.

Probably my favorite species. Very handsome boy.

I'm curious, how does one take a chameleons blood pressure? Also, what lead you to believe it may be a problem? Guess I'm asking about signs and symptoms.

To be clear, I'm not trying to come off as critical at all. I'm a nurse by profession, and the idea of a chameleon having hypertension is interesting to me.

Also, since they're so easily stressed, did you have to take several over a period of tine to establish a baseline?

Anyway, sorry. Happy hatch day!

We use Dr. Doug Mader and he is a world know reptile vet, speaker and published the books that other vets use that try to work on reptiles. He has the most modern and latest equipment in his hospital. High blood pressure is diagnosed in chameleons via MRI. Several years back our panther Sid had high blood pressure and ended up having a stroke.

Happy H-Day Cooper!!! :D Hope you get a few extra special treats to celebrate ;). Glad your hands are doing better. One gorgeous chameleon!

Happy Hatchday, Cooper! Jann, he is growing into a gorgeous, magnificent chameleon! I am so glad to hear his feet are doing better and hopefully his blood pressure will be the only other treatment he needs. And, of course, your photos are beautiful!

Happy birthday Cooper!
So interesting about the blood pressure.
How old was he when you figured out he was a male?

Hi Lynda! Kent was able to sex him at 2 months old from the picture above. He sexes them by the base of the tail just like with the panthers. I could also see the little nose buds.
