wow! some girl who was 15 yrs old O.D.'d on everything under the sun. that really aggravates me because i knew her and would never suspect someone like that to do that. its freaking scary. if anyone has seen that show intervention, kids my age should watch that so any possible thoughts of doing drugs will blissfully escape their minds. then a girl from my sis' school O.D'd on drugs and died too. my sis' school is the best in our state and noone ever expected any of this crap to happen. what is going on???!! is it just me or are people dying left and right because of drugs and does it scare anyone that so many kids are doing drugs???!!!

hard drugs dont mix to well with teens. thats why i just smoke marijuana and dont drink alcohol. its a healthy alternative to anytype of hard drug, tobacco or alcohol

you could ask Barrak Obama to "change" the world" on a serious note. things happen that you cannot understand or do anything about. its not the world going to hell, its the people in it that have the problems.

And people are trying to lower the drinking age...

The fact when you are teenager you start becoming exposed to a lot of new things that as a child you never thought of and this is the prime age for making bad decisions. We all make/made stupid decisions as youngsters... It is really sad when they don't get a chance to learn from their mistakes. Sad story... Hopefully the people close to them can learn from this tragedy.

most people arent educated on the subject and those that are get laughed at. i remember dare class and they teach you songs, not the "good" and bad qualities of drugs. i took a class in college to teach myself about things that i was putting in my body and what was going to be happen to me and how i was going to react. i stopped me from trying some, confirmed why i didnt like others, and straight up gave me a large reason not to drink that often. Of all things, alcohol is probably one of the worst drugs out there in my opinion. Anyway, most of these youngs kids dont receive any info on what they are doing, show off and end up 6 feet under. you want my opinion, educate about the things you simply tell your kids NO on and maybe that will help ease things a bit. But until you educate, telling them no without giving reasons other than you will die or your life will go in the gutter is just going to give them more of a reason to try it because of their invincibility.

I jsut had some friends in from London this past week, and I took them around to different clubs and such in town. One of them was 25, the other 20. Obviously the 20 yr old was not of age to drink, but as you know, the drinking age in the UK is 18.

They could not stop commenting on how pathetic people were acting at OUR legal drinking age. Drinking is alot of the times something to do "rebelious" at a young age since its illegal. Since they can start at a younger age, its not as "cool" and leads to less issues in their mind.

I dont know where i stand on the idea about lowering it, but from what they were telling me, us americans are total idiots compared to them over there with the lower drinking age - less fights, less accidents, etc.

Not sure tho, kids thesedays are not the same as when i was a kid, i cant believe half the shit i read about em thesedays.

I think in Europe the situaton is a lot different. Over there it is rare to find an 18 yo with a drivers license and their own car. The public transportation system there is worlds and worlds ahead of ours. They make our public transportation system look like a joke, and in Europe when kids go out to have a good time and have some drinks they are rarely driving themselves. We see how irresponsibly a lot of our kids act when they first start to drive. I see the High School Seniors driving like complete JackAsses around my neighbor hood every day, and fatal accidents are common. I lost 2 freinds(classmates) to non alchohol related car wrecks before I even turned 18. If you ask me, Giving these 18 year olds(most who aren't even out of high school yet) the choice to drive to the bar with the freinds and have some drinks is asking for tragedy. Not to mention, This would make it worlds easier for a high school freshman to get booze. There would be seniors on every campus in america that would be able to head off campus for lunch... and buy booze for whoever at school was unable to buy it. A kid could make a killing. I admire how things are run in Europe... But it is a whole diffrernt beast here in the states.

Your arguement is spot on. Thats why I kinda am agaist it as well, but see the positive sides at the same time. I DEFINATLY think that its a bad bad bad idea for the exact same reasons. Its a shame that we dont have the public trans system they have over there. The few months i have spent in various countries in europe were amazing due to that exact fact.

Great post Socal!
