When we first got my chameleon, she love to climb on the wall of the cage. A couple time, her tail got stuck in which we had to get it out. Because of this, there as always an indent at the end of her tail, near the incoming claw. Later when she as older, that part of her tail got infected and shriveled and turned dark. we had to give her medicine for it to eventually fall off. the end of her tail today is round and a bit dark with no claw.

My chameleons tail right now has a dent at the tip. It was like that when we for him. He is also shedding right now and the shed won't come off that part of the tail. Do you think he may need the tiny part amputated ?

I have a panther that needed half his tail amputated because he broke the tip and then necrosis started creeping up the tail. But I don't know what you mean by the claw either.

No, his tail isn't in any danger yet. You can try moistening the skin on the tail with a water-based lubricant or moisturizer, massage it with your fingers gently, and see if it'll come off. Sometimes there's a persistent patch that won't come off but it will with a little assistance. Don't force it, but do it a couple times daily if he'll let you and it will come off.
