5 month old ambilobe male. i noticed when he is basking he "leans" to the side....was wondering if that was normal ornot. he kinda just sits there. if i bother him he will move around...and such... so its not like he has mobility issues.
i know he is dark bc he is trying to absorb heat...his basking area temp is around 85-87* verified by digital probe. does he need more? i took some pictures of his "lean". just making sure this is normal behaviour for these guys....as he is my first chameleon

thanks

yes that is normal. he is trying to increase the amount of his body to catch warmth/uv. mind do that from time to time.

when I first got my female, she was pretty much laying down on a leaf on her side, I thought she had died...LOL, I (frantically) opened the cage and put my hand towards her and she popped up and looked at me like "wtf, im basking"...LOL

pretty funny, yes, its normal

phew ! thanks.... ya he is active if i bother him...but hes nice and content just to sit under the light and bask....
he also hasnt eaten much today...as his crickets from this morning are still roaming around....but he has been eating well otherwise...

thanks for the input...

He probably didn't eat that much, because another reason they bask that way is to help them digest what they have eaten. :)

Ha, mine does that too. I'm always impressed that he doesn't fall off the branch. If you watch long enough, they'll switch sides sometimes!

My female lays almost horizontal. can you imagine the strength they must have in those amazing little feet/claws they have.
