Heat Lamp Help....

Hello everyone....

I am struggling with heat lamps.... The zoo med lamps last 2-4 months and burn out and hardware stores don't seem to carry any lights that I believe will work. They seem to have changed all the floods that worked with LED's now that don't produce any heat.

Can someone give me a brand with sku or item number or something that will let me simply order these on Amazon?

Thanks in advance.

I would like something that give me some UVA and UVB.

I was thinking these and then putting them on a dimmer to get the temp right.

I have the t5 but figured the other wouldn't hurt.

Then I guess all I really need is a bulb that will give a little UVA and a temp that can work.

Some places are banning incandescent bulbs and replacing them with LED. Halogens are incandescents so they’re banned too if your state or country has banned incandescents.

I agree—a household incandescent is fine for basking.
Can't just give you a number because we don't know what wattage you'll need to get the proper temperatures in your enclosure—too many variables.

I just set mine up. Started with a 40W; that wasn't warm enough, so I kicked it up to 60W; that was closer but not quite, so I kicked it up to 75W, and I have a 100W on hand in case...
Figuring out the best wattage, distance, angle, etc. is usually a matter of trial & error.
Then I would just stick to a brand name bulb—a little more $, but IME, less headaches & problems.
YMMV.

Hi firstly if you have the correct linear t5ho repti sun 5%or arcadia 6%then there is no need for your basking to provide uvb. This is what I use I know lots of members use incandescent with good success but this is my own preference they provide uva a and ira if this is something you are interested in. Obviously you would have to see what wattage works for you I hope this helps
