Heating and UV MVB????

The problem for me without owning a UV meter is that the mercury vapor will be used for both heat and UV.
If you have to raise your bulb to 24" away from the basking area to get the correct temperature will you still be getting the right UV exposure.
At least some tests have been done by some other members for the linear tube lights and I can be a little more confident I am giving my cham the proper heat and amount of UV by leaving the UV light 6" away and the heat lamp as far away as needed to get the desired temperature.

i use a mv on my setup with no problems at all. i just got the light hanging above cage about a foot away. basking temp is 85-90 degrees depending on abient temp in room. but i never used a uv meter or anything like that to check the output of the light but i hear and read that mv is the best.and mv uv reach is about 18 inches or so. it goes a long way.
