How far should the basking spot be from the heat bulb and can you hang the lights above the cage so that the basking branch can be higher up in the cage?

I learned to top mount because the UVB comes from the top and that way they can bask and get both at the same time.Ill throw a monkey into the wrench. Why does the basking bulb need to be on top of the cage? Why cant it be at an angle on the side of the cage? Either mount you should angle so that you get a wide oval hot spot, very direct at the cham and end up with a hot circle hot spot.

Theres actually a pretty nice fixture from carolina that has t5h0 and 3 halide basking bulbs on one fixture, i almost got it but just ended up using what i have and saved money.True. with my side mounts, i mount them in parallel with the uvb bulb. SO that the UVB comes directly down, and the basking spot comes in at a 45 degree angle. So you end up with a spot on the edge of the cage that has the edge of the uvb bulb and the basking, in one spot. Still have to do all the normal adjustments so the cham cant get close to the bulb.
Yea it would be funny if the basking bulb was mounted off to the side in a corn field nowhere near the uvb bulb
They need to make a dual UVB that has some basking bulb mounts in the middle of the 2 uvb linears...
That sounds awesome how much was it?Theres actually a pretty nice fixture from carolina that has t5h0 and 3 halide basking bulbs on one fixture, i almost got it but just ended up using what i have and saved money.
