Hello everybody I'm not new to the forum but have never introduced myself. My name is Jeff and I have a male veild named Fire. He is about 8 months I have had him for about three months. I first bought a baby veild on impulse at my local petsmart. I didn't know anything about chams and took all the advice from a girl who worked at the store. Although she was very nice she gave me really bad advice. Such as a putting him in a ten gallon terrarium, heat pad on the bottom basking light on top and the UVB. Ok so all the advice wasn't bad but tank size ventilation and heat oh yea she also told me his humiidty should be at 80%. Needless to say I followed all of her advice and the poor little guy didn't make it. Me tank was way to hot and humid and I think that contributed to his his death. It may also be the fact that I bought him from petsmart and perhaps he wasn't healthy to begin with. Anyway I felt awful and was debating getting another but my debate didn't last long. That's when I decided to do my research instead of running out and grabbing another. That's when I found the forum.
I read lots of post studied the husbandry and care sheets. I now have my boy and he is doing great. I have him set up right giving proper supplements and he seems to be thriving he eats like a banshe and has already shed twice. Anyway I just wanted to thank everyone on the forum for pointing me in the right direction. I am obsessed with my Cham and this forum. I am now looking in to some Pygmy chams to fill my empty terrarium. I'm sure I will always have questions there is always more to learn. Thanks again to all.
oh almost forgot....
