Help! Hornworm disaster.

Hello Everyone,
I decided to give a try and breed my own Hornworms and Silkworms. I didn't realize that Hornworm moths can live over two weeks and lay so many eggs. When I did research before breeding I found info that hornworm moth life span is up to 1 week same as silkworms. So I don't know if its my luck or what. Today is day 16 and 2 females are still alive and laid eggs last night. At least I was lucky that half of my silkworm eggs went to diapause other ways it would be a disaster too. I still have one male silkworm moth alive after 16 days. But Since I have only one chameleon there is no way she will eat them all. Beautiful teal/blue Hornworms are 1" size, some smaller, some a little over 1". Silkworms are pretty small, still babies 1/4"-1/2". Anyone interested ?

Yes, I did have 6 nice silkworm moth couples and 3 hornworm moth coules

I wish I lived in Cali! All the people giving away/ selling stuff I need are 80% of the time in cali. :-0 you'd think half the us was made up of calfornia @.@!

Did your hornworms leave a cocoon behind when it hatched? I had one single hornworm in pupae (the other 4 died) and one day I checked the container and the pupae was gone!! We've been recently experiencing a mouse problem, so I'm wondering if the mouse ran off with the pupAe or the horn worm did a disappearing act.

I'd be interested in the 1/4 inch silks. If you have any hornworms of the same size, that would be awesome too. I live in NY, is that too far to ship?

Hi to Happiness in Maryland. I'm in NC and I have 7 hornworms in cocoons and I'm waiting to see if they hatch into moths. I am trying to start my own colony. Maybe soon I will have some for sale? Just not sure when the moths will emerge?
