Hello
Her name is pringles
Specie: veiled chameleon
Sex: female
Age: i think she's 5 or 6 months
I handle her every day several times for like 5-10 minutes
I feed her with crickets, some warms and some browny/redy insects (i don't know the specie's name because i didn't bought her food, she's my boyfriend's but he can;t keep her at college so i have to take care of her. I usually give her two insects/day.
She was used to drink from a syringe and she drinks like 2 times /day (if you have any ideas how can i make some other technique how to give her water, please tell me because i'm at school since 7 AM until 4-5 and i don't want her to get tirsty).
i don't give her vitamins or supliments, if you know what could i give her please tell, i love her very much and i want to take care of her properly. I don't know where i could buy her vitamines because i live in Romania and here i dont know any people having chams.
She "pooped" on saturday evening for the last time, it was grey and a little watery but then itturned into black and became hard.
I don't know really much about her because i recieved her from budapest.

She got really skinny and i'm very afraid i won't be able to make her feel better because i read somewhere that if they got sick there are minimal chances for her to be halthy.
Sorry for my english, it is not my first language.
I hope you can see the pictures. the first one is from sunday evening, and the second one i just took it P1170042.jpg

first of all you are way underfeeding your chameleon. She should be eating about 12 feeders a day. What are you housing her in? Are you not using a UVB light and a basking light? What are your temps? All these things are criticial for your chameleon to survive. please try and be more specific

Hi there my veiled chameleon is about 4-5 months old and eats about 15 -20 crickets a day about the size of his head with calcium powder on every other day and calcium with d3 about twice a month instead of using a syringe why don't u try the drip system u can make the by piercing a little hole in a plastic cup and let it drip inside your setup and for the calcium(vitamins you should ask any pet shop for some pure calcium they should sell it or order it off the Internet also veils cams like vegetation so try putting some veggies fruit etc every other day hope your cam gets better soon.

sometimes they will make themselves appear very skinny. they just suck it in.

can you post photos of her enclosure please?

also, for supplementing. you need a calcium without d3 for every feeding, a calcium with d3 for twice a month, and a multivitamin for twice a month. these are dusted onthe bugs and fed to her.

also, females can lay eggs as early as 6 months old, so you need to get a proper laying bin in there for her.
a deep bucket fill with wet washed play sand is best. it needs to be at least 12 inches deep. and the sand should be wet enough that it holds a shape when you make a ball with it. this way, when she digs a tunnel, it wont collapse on her.

while chameleons do hide illness very well, i am not sure you have anything to be concnered about right now.

i am going to post another members blog on new chameleon care. i want you to read it. then post with any quesitons you have on it ok?

good luck, relax and breathe!

this blog is for egg laying- you need to know it.

i'm using a uv lighting, and i din't know i had to feed her that often, because the guy where i buy her said two crickets per day should be enough.. and now she won't eat at all, how can i force her ? the temeprature in the house is 23 degrees and in her terarrium is 30 degrees (celsius) , and in the day i take her out and put her near the window to stay in the sunligt, that guy said it should be okay .
now i feel really bad, how can i fix this?

she could be bored with crickets. do you have access to other bugs?
roaches (not from the outside) locusts, hornworms, silkworms?

and he was wrong, a female that young, should eat double that. my female who is roughly the same age ate 6 silkworms and a superworm.

i would not recommend force feeding her right now. that is a delicate thing, and you could hurt her.

can you tell me what those temps are in Farenheit?

and just because she is near a window, does not mean she is getting uvb rays. uvb rays cant pass through glass or plastic.

read the blogs i posted, and relax. shes not in dire straights right now.

she can lay eggs even if i don;t have a male for her?
And, btw, i must buy her a male?

thank you all for all your answers

yes she can lay eggs even without a male.

infertile eggs.

and no, you only needa male for her if you plan to breed. which for now. i wouldnt do.
she isnt old enoough anyway.

23 celsius degrees are 73.4 ferenheit, and 30 celsius are 86

try putting a liitle cat litter tray in her setup or an ice cream tub and fill it with soil so she can lay her eggs if needed it will also boost the humidity in your setup also try to up the heat a bit more as well.

no cat litter!

sand or dirt.
and an ice cream tub is not deep enough.
most females wont dig in anything less than 12 inches deep.

washed play sand, eco earth, or plain dirt.

and you dont want to up the heat. higher basking temps will increase her chances of laying!

how should i feed her? i mean, i usually take a cricket or a bug, and put it in the terrarium and then i'll let her hunt it. is it okay? Should i put more than 2 pieces of bugs in there?
But i put her 2 yesterday and she ate none.
but it pisses me off that the bugs are hiding and she's dummy and she doens't notice that they are there, or she dosn't want to notice.. i don't know

Another problem i have.... i will be a coroner and i really don't have any troubles of seeing or touching grose thing, but i just CANT, i really really CANT touch those insects. i'm afraid (i'm a girl ..after all ...). how do you feed her? i mean, i use medicinal gloves but still, i can feel those little legs touching my fingers...
sorry for the trouble, but i really want to know and

this are the bugs i have for her now. are they okay? P1170071.jpg

the mealworms i would only feed once a week. a coupel of them, they arent very nutritous and can be hard to digest.
the crickets and that random roach (im hoping you bought that, and didnt get it from outside) are cgreat for a regular feeder.

to feed them off, you can cup feed.

so i keep my crickets in a large tub. ( i keep alot)
i will pick up a piece of cardboard and shake the bugs off into a large deli cup.

then i put some of my dust on it. and place the whole cup in the cage.

this is known as cup feeding.

and you never have to touch the bugs. :D

Thank you, you helped me alot. i wil go now and put those creatures into a tub and an egg layer sandy thing. i bough the insects, in my country is winter now, there are no bugs. in summer i can take her outside? or it is too dangerous? i have more "random bugs" but they are hidden under a egg cardboard. how i keep the bugs alive? i mean, i gave them carrot and apples, but they still die and i want them to be healthy so my Pringles can be healthy

outside during warm weather is great!

natural uvb from the sun is best for them!

and as long as she has some shade to get to so she can cool off if needed, and you mist her more... shell love it.

though if its her first time out. dont be surprised if she turns almost black, and walks alll over her cage...

the colors show her emotions? i think green is good, right? what if she's almost white? or really really brown?

green is good, brown just means shes trying to take in more heat. no worries.

shell show black dots or black patterns when stressed or angry.

unless in the sun, darker colors in the light or when basking is just how they absorb heat.

i tried to "cup feed" her but all the crickets juped out of the cup (i put 5 in there) and now they are all over the terarrium. is that okay?

yea. free ranging bugs is good for them. if they keep jumping out, get a deeper cup.
just make sure its not see throug=h.
