So I just picked this guy up at the reptile show in Seattle yesterday. The person selling him had just gotten him in a trade and knew nothing about him. He looked very healthy though... so I assumed he originally came from a decent breeder. The guy said the breeders last name was "Moon" and I just cant remember her first but maybe Cristy or something? Anyway I am assuming a Nosy Be Cross... but with that a Nosy Be, Nosy Faly... Nosy Be, Blue Bar Ambanja? Any suggestions would be stunning. Not that is really matters because I think he is a gorgeous little guy either way and I have no intention of breeding. The guy I picked him up from said he was a year old, I am thinking more like 7-8 months.

PS: He appears to have some light yellow around the back of his mouth and red flecking behind his eyes and at the base of his tail.... all his non blue coloration appears to be very minimal though, and when he is not fired up he still is a gorgeous light blue and white but the side bars completely disappear.

Absolutely Gorgeous Regardless of Local

It looks like a young Nosy Boraha, good find if he is as theres not a lot of them around in the US! Is there any red in his bars?

Too much blue/green to be a Boraha imo... Id say a cross of any of the ones you listed aside from the bb ambilobe. Like Benton said it looks fairly young, so it could still be a while before it really shows any color. Truth is you will never know if it was sold as unknown locale. It is a good looking pardalis though!

Young Boraha have this blue green colouration. Similar to Cap Est but not so much red. Trust me, I know this locale very well as its sometimes hard to tell Cap Est and Boraha apart so ive had to do a ton of research on them to make sure I have only the Cap Est locale. I could be wrong though, it could just be a very pale Nosy be or Nosy Faly or a cross of some kind but something screams out Boraha.

Thanks so much camaleonte82!

Benton1576: Wouldn't he be a lot more red, and less blue is he was a Nosy Boraha? That would be amazing though because Nosy Boraha are one of my favorite locals.

coldbloodedAL: Thanks for the input I was thinking BB Ambanja not Ambilobe. He was sold as a unknown and he is a stunner no matter what. I was just wondering if anybody had a more experienced opinion.

Anyway thanks guys!

lol, we have played these guessing games soo many times. lol

Looks like a nice pure Ambanja to me. And i'd say it's possible he is a year old as the previous owner stated.

That is a perfect description of a Nosy Boraha. Nosy Boraha take a while to develop their colours, typically blue grey with slight red speckling around the back legs. then as they get older they get more red at the back legs and tail, sometimes in the face too.

I say ambanja def, pure i dont know.

but the shape of the bars and the coloring says at least some banja to me.

Really? I will have to do more research then, because if he grew up to look like a Boraha I would be pleasantly surprised. I have never even seen a picture of any Juvis though. He does have quite a bit of red specking at the base is his tail but I didn't notice any on his bars/body. However he does get a bit darker. When I picked him up he had no bars and was almost blue/white... when I got him home and he was a little freaked he was a lot darker blue with almost pink on the top of his head/tip of his tail. however he is stabilizing more of the white/light blue color.

lol, would be lucky her! But we are in the US and the chances of it being a Nosy Boraha is slim to none!

I agree, but not impossible. :D

It would be great if he was a Boraha, but there would be an almost zero chance of finding a female for him in the US so he would have to be just a pet.

Just took these :D

I tried to emphasize on his red speckling you can see some on his tail and his body... mostly his belly and a little going up his bars. However there is not very much at all. His eyes are a little difficult to notice the red because I was giving him a bath and he was cleaning his eye balls lol

Well Im sticking with my original answer, Its not Nosy be, too much white, not faly, no red speckling/rain (at that size it would be noticeable), I dont think Ambanja because the colours are too washed out. I honestly think you have a Young Nosy Boraha and in time the reds will pop through more.

Give it a few months and we will see as he is still young and more colours could develop.

Slang1 : That was my first impression... however I am having doubts now lol.

Benton1576 : It would be amazing if you where correct. I was just hoping he would stay White/Light Blue into adulthood... however if he turned out to be Nosy Boraha that would be even more impressive.

Thanks everybody for your opinions I guess I will just have to wait and see. :D
