Hi everyone. I'm new. my partner went out and bought a veiled chemelon yesterday they said it was about 10 months old. We are new to this but we seem to think he looks very thin and fragile for his age. He's only eaten 2 crickets all day he does have some moving around in his tank but just not moving for them. How many crickets should he be eating??

Thanks dawn

That does not look like a healthy Cham at all. I think I see some curvature in the bones of the hind limbs which can indicate MBD. You said he was in a tank, that's bad. They need air flow and a glass tank will give them respiratory infections. Check out the care sheets and good luck.

Thanks for your reply. I will take a look at the care sheet thank you. do you think it's male or female? I've just spoke to the last owner and asked her how many crickets it would eat a day she said 3-4. should he/she be eating more than that.

Thanks dawn

Are there little bumps on the back of the hind feet. That's how you tell the difference between male and female. Males have the spurs females don't

The stress of the relocation can impact eating so the fact that he's already eaten a couple is a good sign.
