Hi All

My little veiled cham has yellow poo!

It was solid but bright yellow.

I moved her about 3 days ago and she only started drinking again today.

Is she just dehydrated?

Thanks

Liz

the whole poo was yellow? or just the calcium excrament? yellow is def. an indication of dehydration. And i hope your misting your cham at least 2 times a day for a duration of about 5mins. at least. I would in in anycase like yours just recomend a luke warm shower for about 15mins in the tub ON a plant, NOT IN THE WATER. Also look for signs like sunk in eyes, or better yet take a pic of the poo and the cam, Good quality pics, and people will be more able to help you out.

Hi!

The whole thing was yellow - unless there is any on leaves that i havent found!

I did have a waterfall in there for 3 days but she didnt drink and i was told they can cause problems so i took it out!

I have been hand misting her 2 times a day for about 5 mins each time with warm water. This morning she turned to face the spray and stood with her front legs up and open.

Her eyes look fine.

The humidity is at around 70% 10-15 mins after spraying and drops back down to about 55% - 60% during the day.

Again - this is only since i banished the waterfall.

If you dont have a drip system set up and your only misting I would reccomend showering him on a plant once a week to ensure hydration. Or misting him directly/indirectly multiple times a day.

Glad to hear that you removed the waterfall. . . also i would def. do the shower thing and im willing to bet that your cham will bounce back. Also, if you havn't already invested in a dripper i would do so, or you could make your own. What type of lighting do you use? Brand? etc. . . What type of cage? What suppliments do you offer? What is the Supplements sechedule? answer these questions please:)

First off,

Yellow poop can be a sign of parasites. I HIGHLY recommend you get a fecal done. Keep up the water misting atleast 3x a day (letting the cage dry out in between misting) Is she eating anything?

See Ya,

Todd

Thanks for all the help so far! How do i go about making a dripper? ( i am quite shocked to here that the waterfalls are such a bad idea - they were recommended by the seller - perhaps it was just a way of getting me to spend more?)

Here are all the details you have asked for:

Cage is an exo-terra starter kit - 4 glass panels and mesh top.

Lighting is Exo-terra strip light 220-240W

I am feeding gut-loaded crickets (gut loading with veg & fruit)
Crickets are dusted in morning with Nutrobal calcium balancer and vitamin suplement.

She ate 9 crickets today - which is 2 more than yesterday - i think as she settles in she is getting better!

Overall temp is around 73 with basking spot at 83-85. Drops to 65 at night.

May be worth telling you that for the first 2 days she was quite pale in colour but is now a bright emerald green - she also seems to have found a regular sleeping spot. also light are on from 6am to 6 pm

Thanks

Here is quick simple dripper you can make.

Items needed:
1) tall deli container and lid
2) air line used for fish tanks
3) adapter for air line
4) airline flow controller

Build:
1) Make a small hole about 1.5 inches from the bottom of container
2) Insert the airline apatper into the hole and glue using aquarium glue or super glue. I prefer to glue on the outside of the container.
3) Once dry attach a 2 or 3 inch piece of airline to the adapter
4) on the other end attach the flow controller
5) Attach more airline to the other end of flow controller
6) Add water to the container and cover with lid
7) Adjust flow controller for the amount of water you want to drip out

Ok about the lights first, im not sure what the "220-240W" is; Exo Terra is great for some things like vines and such but the lighting is subpar when compared to Reptisun 5.0 UVB output so go w/ that. here is the proof . . . http://www.uvguide.co.uk/fluorescenttuberesults.htm also you need to look into getting an all screen encloser otherwise you run the risk of your cham aquiring Upper respitory problems due to the lack of air circulation

Also you don't need to keep your humidity levels so high all the time i find that 50%-60% for me seems to be a good blend.

A drip system can be easily made from a cup w/ a very small hole on the bottom or you can go commercial like me:D and invest in a Big or Little Dripper system here's a link . . . http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog/reptile-supplies/bowls-drippers-misters-and-humidifiers/-/zoo-med-big-dripper/

I think i will need to buy a new enclosure in a couple of months anyway so i will get a screen one! i also have a 25W Daylight but i havent set it up yet as people have said that will be too hot for her.

Thanks for the advice!

Appologies - typo! I said 220-240W but i meant 220-240V

In a glass enclosure it most definatly is! once your cham gets about five to six months old then you def. need to get an all screen cage at about 24x24x48 if you care about your chams health. Also you didn't answer me about the types of supplements your giving your cham when you dust the feeders? sorry if you did i just didn't catch it then.
