i have a custom built terrarium (its really two ten gallon aquariums stacked ontop of each other) for my green tree frog i was wondering will this work for a veiled chameleon

aquariums are not good habitats for chameleons.

No, sorry, chameleons need fresh air and should be kept in screen cages. But DIY cages is one of of the site sponsors that sells good cages for great prices.

i have read that as long as it was well ventilated it would be fine but then i also read that they would not work

you should use screen! glass can get really warm (with lights) and hurt your veiled!
