hello i have a 5 month old pather male chameleon, has been a trooper when it came to eating and drinking, i have him in a 20x20x36" cage and up untill yesterday he always ate all the food i put in his cage. all his colors are fine and stay pretty much the same to stay with his surroundings as much as he can (dark greens dark teal brown strips) when i take him out of his cage he gets very bright and brilliantly colored, reds bright teal yellow and orange.

nothing has changed in his cage and his crickets are stayin the same size, is he just getting to fed up with those and not wanthing them anymore?

I am giving him all the vitamins (d3 calcium vit a and reativite) he is currently getting fed crickets along with 2-3 meal worms for snacks

Well, I have had chams that just stop eating crickets after months of eating tons of them. I had to start different types of food, dubia, silkies, or hornworms. After about 2 months I introduce the feeder that was reject, crickets most the time, back into their cage and they tend to start eating it again.

So how is our little guy doing? I agree with Chris, as I have had this happen with several of my chameleons before. Also, I fairly recently had a scare with my eldest panther; he was not eating for about a week and when he did, it was small amounts, which he would later vomit up. I work for a vet who sees exotics and the first question she asked me was what he was eating. When I told her that he was eating more king-worms then usual, she told me to stop feeding them, at least until he stopped vomiting. The reason for this is that king and meal-worms are very chitinous feeders (they have hard shells). Chitinous feeders are definitely good in moderation, as they help solidify the animals stools, and add substance to their diet. However, feeding meal and king-worms in excess can cause an intestinal obstruction, which can be dangerous for your chameleon. The key, like chris stated, is variety. Crickets are a fairly good staple because they can be easily gut loaded (which you are doing) and they also provide your chameleon with an adequate amount of ruffage, without too many shells. It is important to give your chameleon variety- feed him silkies, crickets, meal-worms, dubia, and any other safe feeder. Just make sure you do so in moderation and always have a staple that will not cause an obstruction. I cant say for sure that this is your chameleons ailment, however, he is a likely candidate based on the amount of meal-worms he has been eating. Check this thread out, it is from about a month ago, when my chameleon had his obstruction. https://www.chameleonforums.com/lethargic-ambilobe-8578/ Let us know if he is improving.
