Homemade (low cost) custom cage

I'm off on my lil ventures again, and finally got sick of these pet store cages that I'm keeping my Veiled Chameleons in. Currently, one is a 16"x16"x24" all screened cage. The other one is a 14"x14"x20" glass/screen terrarium. I (personally) don't think that these are adequate for neither the Chameleons' or my own happiness.

Earlier today while walking around Wal-Mart...I saw a multilevel utility shelf that is 36"x24"x72". As I was eyeballing this, I was imagining seeing this unit with only half of the shelves in....and screening in the enclosure. The bottom shelf could be used to neatly organize the RS400, Cool-Mist, food, and drainage.

Sooo, this is going to be my little blog on how I'm going to go about this to create what I would call, an adequate enclosure for my lil Veileds.

Stay Tuned!!

Great! I can't wait to see how this turns out. I'd like to transform an everyday furniture item into a chameleon cage when mine gets older. Looks nicer and provides them with more room!

Any chance you can post the name and brand of the shelving unit from Walmart? I'd like to pick one up too if it's affordable!

this does sound awesome!! I have my guy in a glass aquarium right now (but I know he will need something like this in the future) I can't wait to hear how it goes and please let us know what you are using so that some of us can replicate if we like it!!
