hooked on super worms

Hi everyone, just looking for some advice here. I have a baby veiled chameleon and she mainly ate crickets up until today. I was trying to introduce a little bit of variety into her diet. as a treat i would give her super worms no more than two a day, and only every other day. Yesterday I gave her two and today she wouldn't eat any of her crickets. i tried to cup feed her a cricket but she only looked at it and wasn't interested. To make sure she wasn't avoiding food all together i put a super worm in the same cup as the cricket and she went right for the super worm, ate it and totally ignored the cricket. What should i do to get her off of being addicted to the super worms? should i stop giving her them until she eats crickets? or can i give her super worms as a staple? any advice?

Give her more time to eat the crickets and hold back the super worms for a while. My guy is a junkie for supers. I never give them 2 days in a row for that reason.
No healthy animal will intentionally starve itself to death.

Yeah, chams, at least mine seems to love worms and especially supers and wax... i personally only feed 1-2 supers a week. And wax even less.

how long do you think i should wait?

Mmmm, personally I dont like to feed my cham with the superworm period ,what is so "super" about it ...too hard to digest ....unlike the silkworm....silky soft n smooth ,cham will eat it all day n everyday without any issue.

They're as 'super' as you make them. You can gutload them as you would crickets. Plus they make a great way of getting calcium into your cham imo, as they keep calcium powder on themselves better than crickets.

As for the original question; hold out for as long as it takes to get your cham to eat crickets again. It won't starve itself to death. I would only feed you cham supes once or twice a week…max…

I have written rule that Sherman knows. ;) "Super Worms are for Weekends" I only feed him 2 supers a day on Saturday and Sunday along with Crickets. He gets nothing but crickets Monday thru Friday, so if he plays hardball with me (and the little turd has :cautious:) he just doesn't eat. I remove all food in the evening before bed times. By Tuesday he's "good to go" and usually eats all his crickets.
I don't think a healthy Cham will starve itself.

I was giving mine one everyday along with other things and he started rejecting everything but supers for a while. So I just stopped feeding him supers. I only give them to him once or twice a week now and it's after he eats something else soft. I keep a wide range of worms around bc he is a picky one. He will almost Always take a silk...when he refuses I offer him something else. Hornworm calciworms butterworm. He rarely Will take a cricket and hardly ever a roach. But my Beardie downs the roaches like candy. She likes everything
