Hornworm food

The food in my hornworm pod gets hard after awhile how can i prevent this and still have the worms grow fast also thats my other problem the hornworms are growing very slow any tips are greatly appreciated

here are a few hints/tips

keep the container of worms closed. just open it up once or twice a day for fresh air.
also, keep the containers in a warn humid room. 75F - 85F is best. humidifyers in the winter help with room humidity durring the winter months.
(might also help you breath easyer too)
