House Spider

So handsome Lambeau was hanging out in his free range this morning preparing for the long day of football when i noticed he was moving rather quickly towards the wall, i went to see what was bothering him and snap... he nailed a large black spider off the wall. Now we live in Maine whereas we have no venomous spiders, and it was most likely just a large house spider, but he should be absolutely fine right...? im assuming so, for this cant be the first time he has done this, any opinions?

House spiders are safe. Cain feeds Wolf spiders to his chameleons, so House spiders would be alright.

Lenny also free ranges and he will go all the way across the room for a spider. I think he just likes variety, bet your guy does to.:)

Sure do!!

I looked up house spider images and there were about 2000 different species:D

I feed all sorts of spiders like wolf, daddy longleg, crab, jumping (although lately I just let them do their thing, they are too cool to watch) orb weaver, wood louse etc etc. Some can pack a punch like the wood louse and wolf spiders so I am very cautious of the size of any spider I feed. I even feed the many tiny wolf spiders that are here in the spring and fall to hatchling chameleons. All of my animals love spiders!! Im betting its a decent part of their wild diet too;) Ill even throw crickets or flies into the webs of the ones that live in the house. Watch them eat the feeder and then it becomes a feeder:eek:

Ive heard cases of jacksonii eating Black Widows with no ill affects. I wouldnt feed those or the Brown Recluse though. For one I wouldnt try to catch them and of course you dont want the chameleon to be bit. Ive had no ill affects from any species I have fed off and Ive fed off lots;)

This reminds me. My friend has a Black Widow as a pet that I need to photograph before I head back to MD.
