How bad is their bite?

Today makes one month that we have had Picasso and we do handle him several times a day, he has never hissed at us or tried to bite, I know that at sometime that may happen and when it does, is it bad?...I don't really want to even think of my boy biting.

No, the bite is not bad at all. I think it is just that we all think of the injustice of being bitten by one we love. It is just in their nature, very much like parrots. Hoping you never get bitten! Slainte' Ruth

I have quite a few old guys and sick guys that can not use their tongue and I have to hand feed (put feeders in their mouth) so I get bit every now and then by accident of course. It's really not that bad but they have broke the skin a few times.

At your boys age...you probably wont feel anything. :)

A adult veiled can inflict some pretty nasty cuts.

My 4 month old panther bit me today when I had to medicate him. It doesnt hurt but it's surprised me because it happened so fast. My 9 month old veiled hisses at us from time to time but I've never been bit by him. It seems like his would actually hurt though.

They can cause some damage (drawing blood, possibly requiring stitches) especially adult veileds. Its not very often that one will bite harder than enough to break the skin. Usually they just do a warning bite if they bite at all (expect for the most aggressive/terrified animals.)

My 9-month old veiled got me the other day. Mostly they bruise, but he's old enough now to make me bleed (and he did). If yours ever bites you, clean it thoroughly!

I have a wc faly that got me pretty bad. I prob should have gotten a cpl of stiches but I cleaned and disinfected it and just threw on a butterfly on to keep it from bleeding for a few days. Still have a slight v shaped scar there. lol Been bitten more times than i can count but that was the only one to really draw blood. Now I just use the leather gloves with him. lol

Rule #1 for reptile bite- dont jerk your hand back
Rule #2 for reptile bite- dont jerk your hand back

PS: once they get the taste of human blood they will go on a hunger strike till they get some more :p

Oh wow!.....after reading all of these I really hope he won't bite me ever, I sure had no idea that they could cause damage like the pic showed......but no matter what, I will still love him like I do now.
