How can I find a good home for my cham?

I've had a chameleon for almost a year now, and although I have an excellent cage, custom-built table for drainage, misting system, etc etc (I've gone lengths and spent way too much money to make it as easy maintenance as possible) I personally am a mother of two, have two large dogs (which are taking up more and more of my time as they are aging) and just have too much going on to give the kind of care my chameleon deserves. I noticed most online centers for selling things do not allow the sale of animals (craiglist, many facebook pages, even this forum), so my question is -- how do I go about finding a good home for my chameleon? I would love someone to at least pay a little something for the cage/table/lights/mister/supplies but of course I also want to ensure my chameleon goes to a good home, preferably with the cage he's in. Advice? Please no accusations that I should've known this before I bought him... this has been a major learning experience, and I never intended on giving him up when I bought him. I simply need to let go of some things, and I really do think he'd be much happier elsewhere, somewhere warmer for starts, with somebody who can give him more attention.

I think that craigslist and facebook are doing more harm than good by banning posts about animals. There are definitely people who abuse online forums, but I think the majority of people are more like you Heather. Honest and caring pet owners who are trying to do the responsible thing when they realize that they cannot provide the care their pet needs.

I could suggest a few links, but here is a google search that seems to have some good options: https://www.google.com/search?q=chameleon+rescue

Thank you! This is very helpful. I will check that out.

There is a re-homing page on FB, "chameleon Gems: A Re-homing Group". There is a fairly large contingent who just use it for a sales page, but there are a lot of people who are looking to re-home.
Thank you! That sounds like a great idea. I will check this out too.

I don't think you need to worry about anyone ragging on you about giving up your cham when you are thinking about the best for him. You are swallowing your pride and accepting he needs more than you can give. There are several reptile rescues all through out Cali but they usually do not buy supplies or animals just in case you really need help finding him a home ^^
