How Close is too Close?

My baby veiled (about 3 mos.) has finally reached the top of her cage and is climbing on the top! I have both of my lights on the top, each one a couple inches above the wire mesh. I am only using a 40 watt bulb for heat because it's very hot where I am. If she's a couple inches from the lights, will she be safe? What should I do?

if u put ur hand where she is and you burn yourself it is too hot. if its warm but not enough to burn your hand it should be fine. do you have a probe thermomitor you can use to see what temp it is up there?
