How close to a UVB lamp??

How close does a UVB Lamp have to be to be effective?? Are there ways to extant that distance?

I have a very large ficus tree. I'd like to set it up as an occasional free range. I have some concerns about lighting as it's way over 10 feet tall.

I have a recessed light directly above it, but it's still pretty far to the ceiling. Just trying to come up with options. For someday...

7 to 8 inches is recommended I believe. What strength is it?

It all depends on what type of the UVB bulb,and how long its been operating,chameleon preferred the height to stay on the upper range,so take the advantages to set up their uvb spot judging by their body height and also consider the safety not to be burn by any other heat source.
U can always get a UVB tester to find out its efficiency.

based on my readings, a 12% arcadia t5 ho is good for at least 3ft away. Most bulbs are only good for 18-24", even the good ones. if you can barrow a solar meter, you are shooting for 35-25µW/cm² /.5 uvi on the low end.
