I'm currently trying to transplant my hanging pothos plant into organic soil and its terribly hard. There are so many roots and the dirt is hard to remove. Any tips? Thanks in advance. ;P

"Transplant"

Just have to get your fingers dirty. Shake, scratch and work the dirt off the ball until there will b a good amount of soil around it. Gentle but assertive, be cautious of the root systems but they can survive through a fair bit.

thanks alot. I seem to have detached some of the stems, but I think I left the majority of them in tact. I didn't get all of the dirt out, it seems impossible but I think it was thorough enough.

Give it a good watering after you're done with the transplant and monitor how it does. Might need more water a few days after as the roots will be a bit shocked and will be trying to take hold in the new pot! Pothos are super resilient plants so you should be fine! Don't forget to rinse the leaves off of any pesticides that might be on the plant. Good luck!

If you put the vines that got pulled off in the dirt and water well they usually develo a root system of their own...

It takes a lot of work to kill a pothos. I had one left over from a passed cham's cage that I decided to not reuse and it lived for 3 months with no water or sunlight only to be killed by the freezing nights when I put it on the porch...

Hahaha... I completely agree with Dan; the are hard to kill, almost takes effort!
Although, that's what people said about the umbrella plants too, but I've had little success getting them to thrive.

Don't listen to the lies, umbrella plants will die if you look at them funny! Better than a ficus though, they die if you play classical music to them everyday and give them everything!

Thanks a lot guyz! All transplanted, about to start a new thread on horizontal pathways...unless I find it on a previous post.
