i keep seeing all these pics of people with their panther chams on their hands,or on their furniture,or outside just walking around.
i have only cleaned my chams cage(and he tried to bite me). so i am wondering how is it that everyone is getting all these up close pics with out being attacked?
he is 6mths now.

My veiled chameleon has just always been real friendly. He hates being in a cage and loves to be on my head, hand or shoulder. We have allot of trees and plants around in the house and on the back porch and he stays on those allot, too. I've noticed allot of people on this site say that their chams are mean, I guess I'm just lucky to have a little sweetie pie.

it all depends on the cham.. some like to be held(or i should say tolerate it) and some dont...really they shouldnt be held at all. more like having a fish tank..in a low traffic area...lol..:)It really stresses them out.. like jannb said there is that 1 in a million cham thats seems to like being handled..

Bribe, bribe, bribe. Kidding. Give him time, he is still young and he sees everything bigger than him as something that wants to eat him. Hopefully as he gets older and bigger he will get to trust you more and more. Of course he could just be a littel pi........er and not want to be held. They all have their own personalities. Keep your fingers cross. In the meantime just watch what you do when you are near him. Move slow and deliberate, where non-threatening colors, (remember in their world, color is everything. Some people even goes as far as wearing the same clothes everytime they are near the chams) and don't look at him with both eyes. Remember just before THEY eat something, they look at it with both eyes, then zap.
