How do you house your crickets?

I know everyone likes to see everyone's cham cages, but..what about your cricket enclosures? How do you "store" your crickets?

We have the big Cricket Keeper and I'm looking for a way to efficiently use that to maintain them. Anyone have any suggestions? Do you put substrate or soil on the bottom? How do you handle feeding? Water?

When I kept crickets (I don't keep them anymore, they are too much of a pain), I just used a big storage bin with proper ventilation, and egg crate, food dishes, and if you are breeding them, a little substrate dish.

I dont think crickets are the best live food but if you want to keep them use a nutrient rich diet and use bug jel or a wet sponge to keep them hydrated. Crickets need lots of surface area because they can be cannibalistic if there is not enough space. They can also eat each other if there is a lack of food and water. Keep your cricket keeper as dry as possible and add lots of egg crates and similar material. Make sure you gut load and dust before feeding. Good luck.

You are talking about purchasing them, not breeding correct? I had good luck with plain glass tank, bare bottom with some egg crate and a light for heat. I now use a heat pad instead but I may try a light bulb next time because I didn't seem to have quite as good of results. For food and water I feed Apples and other fresh fruit and veggies. I don't use cricket gel because the verdict is still out on if it is harmful to herps.
