Also... I was just reading about it on the UPS website.. .and It says you can't ship roaches!! I know people sell roached online all the time. How do they ship their roaches?
Right from the website... I didn't even notice it said snakes till just now!
"Prohibited Live Animals
Live Animals that are prohibited from being shipped and are not accepted for transportation include, but are not limited to:
* Any poisonous, venomous or threatening animal
* Any Threatened or Endangered species
* Arachnids (All): Examples: mites, scorpions, spiders, ticks
* Birds (All)
* Crocodiles (All): Examples: alligators, caimans, gavials
* Mammals (All)
* Obnoxious Insects: Examples: flies, locusts, mosquitoes, roaches, termites, weevils
* Snakes (All): venomous and non-venomous"
Each carrier has their own rules regarding animal shipments, but UPS does allow lizards to be shipped unless they're dangerous or endangered (chameleons aren't all endangered). With UPS, you have to fill out an application to ship live animals, with a brief history on each type you'll be shipping. They have a long list of animals they won't ship, but chameleons and most lizards fit through the cracks. I have shipped well over 1,000 chameleons with UPS, many times labelling right on the box that it was a "live harmless chameleon" and they've never refused it or said anything. I believe they'll allow turtles and tortoises also, which I think USPS won't allow (been a while since I've checked on that). Like I said, different carriers have different rules, but I think lizards are allowed with pretty much all of them.
Would someone care to illustrate or describe the best way to actually pack a cham? Tyler maybe? How much space is too much space? I got my veiled in a deli cup, but what do you do for an adult? How do you insulate? How many heat packs? what do you use for cushioning? I've seen newspaper used, I think I've also seen cloth bags?
