How Far??

Ok, I have a question....
How far can a chameleon see?
I have noticed my veileds can see quite far. Atleast twenty feet, but that is a far out of my sight I will let them go.
When they are outside sunning on the large hibiscus tree I have they duck around the backside of the branches.
I know their vision must be cloudy when using one eye, but how about two?

If I had to make a geuss i'm not sure about the range exactly but i would say the eyesight would probly be much like a bird of preys eyes as far as noticing moving objects it can probly focus in pretty well but if its just saying still i would think that it not exactly have trouble seeing but maybe just pay less attention i guess the only way to find out is to have a hungry chameleon have it outside where it could get all over the place and either drag something across the ground or realease something for it to eat but i think that would take a lot of time to figure out.

I dont know just something i thought of.

Howdy,

Here is a quote out of an article that a friend of mine wrote for future publication. (I have permission:))

"Uniocular vision:
Comparatively, chameleons’ eyes produce the largest retinal image of any animal. Chameleons have evolved what has been described as a “mini-telephoto lens system” based on a myopic, divergent, lens, which creates a virtual image. Their eyes can focus as close as 3cm while the accommodation range is said to be up to 45 diopters and rapid, up to 60 diopters per second; similar to birds according to one expert."

Oh I can't remember who owns Jake and Fred but he posted a picture of them reacting to each other. He said that they spotted each other from across the room, about 20ft. Chameleons aren't the largest things so I'd say they have good eyes.

I know Ive seen my cham crouch down cautiously, and could tell he was looking at something out the window, I too looked out in the window in the same direction and noticed there was a plane flying by.
