OK, I feel really stupid... I should have asked this question when I first got my Chams two weeks ago...I have read numerous articles about the best feeders and needless to say I have bought phoenix worms , crickets , meal worms. I like the fact that the phoenix worms are easy to keep and have a great ratio.. But I really don't know how much to feed them, or that is the best feeder ??? Can you overfeed your Chameleon? I have two Panther Chameleons I think they are around 2- 4 months ? Maybe if you guys look at some of my pictures of them them you would have a better idea then me how old they are. I am wondering on every different type of feeder how much I should be feeding can anybody help? the link to my cams is in this thread.. https://www.chameleonforums.com/new-pro-mist-system-38511/

Mealworms i wouldn't feed as they are hard to digest and can cause impaction so dont feed those. Try to get some hornworms and silkworms those are better. Phoneix worms are good to. I am not sure how much you can feed phoneix worms so i cant help you there, but silkworms are healthy, and can be used as a staple feeder. Try those to.

Phoenix worms can be fed regularly, but not all chams can digest them. If they come out undigested, stop feeding them. Mealworms can be fed a couple times a month if they are well gutloaded, but I prefer superworms as they are easier to digest. As said above, silkworms and hornworms are a great food and they help keep your Cham well hydrated. Roaches are a good option too. They don't stink :)

Actually, a quick fix would be to simply poke a hole in the phoenix worm before feeding. However, I just like to avoid phoenix worms all together, being that in the wild a chameleon would never even consider eating a maggot.

Ewww. Do they leak like superworms? I can't stand when the bugs leak fluid!

Yeah, they leak green stuff. :D

Ever since a rescue veiled of mine, who had MBD, about 4 years ago, pooped out his phoenix worms perfectly in tact and wriggling like nothing had ever happened I decided to stay away from them.

Got this info from a Book "The Panther Chameleon" "In the Laboratory ad libitum food intake of crickets, mealworms, or superworms by panther chameleon juveniles is equivalent to 1.0 to 1.5 times the lizard's body mass per week for the first 4 months of life and then drops to about 0.4 to 0.9 times the lizards mass at maturity (Ferguson 1991). This intake results in growth and maturity rates similar to those measured in nature (Bourgat 1970; Ferguson 1994)."

not to be rude but a cham wouldn't run into superworms either because super live underground which is pretty far from where a cham usually hangs out. So if the cham enjoys something that i feel comfertable and am positive it wont have any negative consequences i would feed it. still phoenix worms are good as a treat since they are hard to digest

This is really frustrating does anybody read... There are great pictures of everything if you click the link on my very first post on here at the bottom o that post is a link tha says pro mist system in blue you click on that and it takes you to the pictures of both my chams on another post that I made.. Maybe that will help because I really want to know the age of these guys!!!!

You just have to trust the person you bought them from. What the people n here say is just speculation. They all grow at different rates and color up differently.
