How much water?

Does anyone know the perfect amount of water for a juvenile veiled chameleon to drink? He only likes to drink from the nozzle of the misting bottle I use so when I mist, he comes down his branch and drinks right from the bottle but that's the only time he drinks so I want to make sure I'm giving him the right amount!

Great picture. I don't know an exact volume but if you keep an eye on his urates and they stay very white you will know he is staying hydrated.

he didn't like the dripper I set up with a plastic cup and I'm always home anyway so I don't mind misting into his mouth, I just don't know how much.

Thank you! I've read that thread a while ago and his urates are fine he just always seems to be waiting by his door for attention or water, no matter how much water i give him

My chams who learned to drink directly from a spray nozzle were pretty easy to keep track of, plus I enjoy this little interaction with them. I found that they would drink until they were "full"and then tip their head straight up and turn away from the water drip. Chams have relatively small stomachs for their size and no muscle that prevents the contents from backing up into their esophagus if too full. They know when they are overly full. If your cham is very thirsty its better to offer smaller volumes more often than try to force them to drink too much at a time. That and white urates are the clues.

I really enjoy the time with my cham too when he drinks and he eats from my hand too and it's adorable! I do notice he does the head tilted up when he's done too. I give him water from the bottle like 4 times a day and he drinks about 5 large drops at each session
