How often should a Juvenile Male Veiled Chameleon Defecate?

I had a juvenile male veiled chameleon (Smeegle) for 3 days and he hasn't defecated once yet??? I feed him 4-5 crickets a day and he is about 5 inches (snout to vent) and his tail is roughly 4-6 inches. Im not 100 percent sure how old he is as I bought him from a pet store at this age... How much should he be "going"? If you need to see pictures go to my thread "does he look healthy" link : is here: https://www.chameleonforums.com/does-he-look-healthy-131451/

I would let him eat as much as he can(crickets that is). Also variety is also important. I feed my 2 1/2 month old veiled 10-20 crickets a day depending on the size of the crickets.

I have noticed through the years that giving a chameleon a lengthy shower entices them to poop. that is what I do when they are inside for the winter . they get a shower at least once a week. in summer I run the sprinkler on them almost every day for different lengths of time . they seem to enjoy it and it gives them a chance to clean their eyes . I guess it sort of gives them a wet season and a dry season , which they get in the wild .

When you say shower do you mean a actually shower or just a warm water misting? Because that young of a chameleon you can easily asphyxiate a cham if the water droplets are to large

a light shower . if the lizard is in a screen cage the screen will break up the water droplets sufficiently . what I look to do is simulate a rain shower - which they get in the wild . make sure the lizard has enough foliage . they usually position themselves under the leaves and utilize the water as they see fit .

Normally they should poop everyday but your chameleon is not eating enough to poop everyday. Try some variety with his feeders that should pep up his appetite and some soft worms like small horns or silks will also help him to poop.
