How often should he eat?

We have a Mellers chameleon. Almost an adult, we recently bought him a little over a week ago. I really figured that he would eat often but when I put food in there he'll leave them alone. I think he finally ate for the first time after 5 days. And now we're repeating the cycle. I put food in there and he's not interested.

Is this your first chameleon?
I would not have picked a Meller's for my first one.
Others will have more experience with this species, but you should provide all your husbandry info for them right off the bat.
Good luck with this animal....they require a very large enclosure!

No this isn't our first we had two Oustalet Chameleons several years ago and really didn't have any problems with them(except for the male injuring the female trying to mate). But we got them when they were younger. Right now he's in a smaller cage than we'd like but we're building a new bigger one. It's 3ft tall by 2ft by 2ft screened. He has a hibiscus plant in there along with some other vines and branches to climb. UVB light, heat lamp about a 10inches away from the screen and at night just a night bulb for heat. He gets misted around 6 times a day. Today I put meal worms in a bowl in there for him and he hasn't shown any interest in them either.
