he completely lost interest in cup feeding -.- so now all his crix are free in his cage, but this doesnt help when i have to dust, cuz the dust rubs off...how do i make him take his supplements?!?!?! he wont eat when he's out, he'd rather explore..

Hand feed. He may just be going on a hunger strike. How old is he?

he is around 9 months..
he doesnt particularly like hand feeding, he's only done it once or twice, but ive offered crix, superworms, mealworms, hornworms, and butterworms all by hand, and he refuses to take them..he doesnt even show an interest in worms at all :/ but the crix he hunts down only if theyre loose. he cup fed the first week and a half and suddenly stopped. his cup will sit there with all the crix still in from the morning -.- he's like a picky child..im not sure what to do..id really like to make sure he gets his supplements..

Jacksons dont need much supplement. If hes not hungry for a bit that is fine. My xanth slowed down around that age. Now the most she eats is maybe 3 feeders. Most of the time just one, and quite often none. I dust any about half her feeders with calcium, and just give her vitimins once a month. It has seemed to work out just fine with her.;) Has Linus actually tried a superworm? Most of the time if they dont know what it is it can take a while for them to eat it, but when they do, thats all they want:rolleyes: I only feed a few supers every other month or so, because they get addicted and there not that healthy. Just keep offering him food by hand, hell get hungry. After a few weeks of hand feeding they get used to it.

^^^Thats it right there, it can be a pain in the a** but he will come around eventually. Dusting everyday is too much for a jackson, mine only gets dusted cix/dubia once a week all feeders( w/repashy calcium+). If not using ca+ use above method, maybe slighty less.:D

Your using repashy?? For how long? I tried it on my xanth, she initially seemed to be doing better on it. I had some issues with her after a month or so and I switched back to rep-cal and they went away. Im unsure if this was actually the issue though. So Id like to hear what you have to say about repashy with jacksons, please:D

For a montane species, allowing a good amount of the dust to wear off is good. They should only look a shade lighter when dusted normally anyways.

3 months now with no issues, never more than 1x a week with all feeders (6-10 crix, 3-7 dubia, or a mix) i never dust any "treats" either. :)

Thank you, that sounds like less than I was giving. That may have been the issue. I think Ill keep her on rep-cal anyhow as thats what she grew up with. I appreciate the info though, I didnt know anyone else was using it on a xanth;)

Np man. I havnt heard of anyone using it on any montane species period?

Honestly, I dust only about once a month, but I vary up the insects in my cham's diets and gutload all my insects. Make sure you're feeding a bunch of different gutloaded (if possible) insects, and you should be good.

You recommend the calcium plus then?

I am not going to recommend it, simply because my xanth has only been on it three months. If everything goes good after about a year i would recommend it. Best to stick to whats proven. And depending on you geographic location, with a good gutload and plenty of natural sun dusting may not even be neccesary for montane.

i dust once a week with plain calcium (stickytongue farms) once a month with d3 and once a month with a vitamin :)

soo just to summarize, its okay to free range his dusted crix? would it help if i ghost dust them and by the time he hunts and eats them, most of the dust will be off?

I would not, I actually blow on the feeders to make sure I get as little as possible on them.

its hard to find a variety of insects because the weather in pa is bipolar...its hard to predict the weather and ship accordingly. one day its 50 degrees and sunny in the winter, and the next theres 6 inches of snow...and the local pet shops dont carry much more than crix :( ...cant wait till summer -.-

soo even if theyre dusted correctly, by the time linus would find and eat them, they would still have enough dust? (sometimes it takes him all day -.-)
