Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - Veiled Chameleon, Female, in my care about 2 weeks, 2-3 months old
  • Handling - None that it is sick now
  • Feeding - i just throw in about 10-20 every day in the morning but i dont really see her eat but i think she eats because next day its mostly gone
  • Supplements - Since my chameleon doesnt eat a lot even if i put some crickets in calcium she wont eat them right away and the dust will just come off
  • Watering - I just mist the enclosure and sometimes use a syringe to feed it
  • Fecal Description - It is White ish and the rest is brown
  • History - no not really
Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Screencage about width is 24cmx24cm height is about 60 cm
  • Lighting - UVA only
  • Temperature - Hottest is 30c and coldest is about 24c
  • Humidity - since i live in hong kong the humidity is about 80% all the time
  • Plants - Pothos and a few fake vines
  • Placement - Its on a table in my room
  • Location - Hong Kong

Current Problem - Has URI OR LRI, has most of the symptoms and i need to know before he dies like my other cham did this morning.

I have did some research and people suggest i use a Humidifier, but i thought Humidifiers boil water and make steam out of it? will that not burn the chameleon, and i only have a UVa light and i will get UVB light tmr.

Basically i rarely see my chameleon eat or drink and sometimes his eyes and a bit dehyrted so sometimes he sticks his head in the air with his mouth open i think he is thirsty so i give him a few drops of water but then he violently swings his head with his tongue sticking out, and starts to vomit water bubbles. PLEASE HELP. I KNOW I HAVE MADE A LOT OF POSTS BUT IT GETS WORSE AND WORSE. PLEASE DO NOT BE MAD ONE CHAMELEON HAS DIED AND I WILL NOT LET MY BEAUTIFUL VEILED CHAMELEON DIE.

9 times out of 10 "you" cant cure a URI or LRI, only antibiotics can.

Aside from that, you do not have to raise the humidity. low humidity for several weeks will cause a URI, just like it causes you a bloodly nose. But that is when the humidity is below 40% even with misting. 60% and above does not need to be boosted.

without several hours of real sun, that uva only setup is not going to work unless you know how to 100% supplement with D3 (some breeders do this).

Ok, just for your next video post a a video of you that gives water to your chameleon. i have a feeling something wrong here. water in the lungs can be fatal

ps please....STOP MULTIPLE POST!!!! ITS REALY ANOYING! i think everybody gonna give up soon..

I took on 1 of my boy yemen, now sadly passed but who had mbd, multiple fractured ribs, a RI was well under fed & was housed at about 4 months with his sister! the vets actually gave him a few weeks to live but i actually had him 2 & a half years after this... 1stly he will need antibiotics so you will need to go vets, but raising the viv temp higher by a little i.e about 5 degrees along side warm misting to help raise humidity was what vet told me to do which did help my boy. After 3-4 weeks his RI was cleared but is why antibiotics are also needed. make sure hes hydrated as this is so important if has a RI ... these will not cure him but hopefully will help him while waiting to go vets, Hope he makes a full recovery.

Please don't spray water in his mouth when he has his head raised and his mouth open. You will get water in his lungs and die.
How do you know he has a URI or such??

DO NOT MAKE ANOTHER THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so annoying I'm ready to stop trying to help you because I have to keep reading the other "million" posts you've made to see what the whole situation is now....and I'm almost done doing that. You are wasting time that could be spent helping someone else....someone who makes clear posts and answers the questions we ask.

Since i live in hong kong there is not much sun but very cloudy, and should i get a UVB light? I do have antibiotics at home and i have brought them to some useless vet and they said he was healthy. How much antibiotics do i feed him?

I have asked the vet for help but they said he was healthy, one of my chameleon died and i can not let another one die, I DO NOT CARE how many post i make, i just want my chameleon to be healthy, if you are annoyed dont even bother come to my posts and reply. Thank You

ok Josh.. sorry for your Cham, sorry for your lost you dont seem to be really cooperative, you post like 100000 post so its impossible to follow the situation and help you ans worst.. you just dont care to be super cahotic and anoying so you dont care to lost precious help..

Anyway..

For now.. he need specific antibiotic.. what kind (brand, type mg/100ml) of antibiotic you have at home? for human? for reptile? not the same thing..

your chameleon NEED uvb to live so you have to buy a special bulb at your reptile store its important so.. tomorow morning go straight to the store to buy uvb bulb (exo terra 150 uvb gonna be ok for now.. but i suggest you to put money on t5ho neon)

For R-I.. i think your reptile is choking from water or feeder.. so i dont know you you give water to your chameleon but im sure you do it wrong.. antibiotic not gonna save the situation here.
For the water! use a dripper (google Little dripper.. easy effective and safe)

He gonna need higher temperature to cure a disease if he have any disease so i suggest you to go with 33 degres at the hot spot

be sure to always wash your hand.. chameleons are fragile so you can give a disease to your chameleon by some bacteria from your nose, mouth, saliva, ear so.. fingers..

stop manipulating your chameleon.. he is enough stressed now.. more stress gonna kill him for sure

can you post more picture of the enclosure, of your chameleon?
how is he now?

I saw him eat and drink once today but other than that he is still facing up. In my home i have Augmenting, i have a lot but i dont know how much i should feed him. I also used Augmenting for my dog which did help my dog recover from a sickness he had

And its not possible to use augmenting, its gonna kill your chameleon straight.. too strong for a little veiled and not adapted

He is vomiting bubbles once a day, and he is always in the same position hugging a branch facing up with his eyes closed.I have seen him eat and drink. I have Baytril but i just do not know what to feed him.

I feed my chameleon water by misting the entire enclosure, he sometimes uses his tongue to lick to moisturer of the leaf. but i still saw him swinging his head violently with his tongue sticking out. I am not really getting any answer, but i just get some advice which i do follow but it doesnt seem to help

I'm sorry this chameleon is sick. I suggest not getting anymore since you say there are no good reptile vets in Hong Kong and you're unable to care for them properly.
he is sick. not dying. I have Baytril but i just do not know how to feed it and how much.Since im not really getting any help recently i will just feed her a little at a time. Thank You

I highly suggest you don't give him any until you know the correct dosage for your chameleon. They are very small animals and even a little to much can have really bad effects. I know you said you don't have access to a good vet but you shouldn't administer any medication with a vet telling you the correct dose for your chameleon.
