i can't figure out how to make a dripper. i dont wanna buy one for 40 bucks cause its a waste of money. i have tried a pin hole at the bottiom of a cup and it just pores. anyone know a cheap way to make one???

Poke a hole in the bottom of a cup, and put ICE in it. It drips slowly, and it lasts all day.

I used to use a cup with a pinhole, but it wasn't ideal and certainly not controllable! I got hold of a couple of plastic sweet jars and made my own. It's really easy to do and I have made several. You need a large plastic container, an adjustable air valve (T valve) and some airline tubing.

Use warm water or at least room temp. This is how I make a dripper.

Take a plastic cup or bowl and poke a couple of very small holes in the bottom. As adults you can use a plastic milk jug. Fill it with warm water and make sure it drips very slowly over a vine with leaves so your little guy can drink from the leaves.

I made one yesterday, just from a plastic juice bottle. A soda bottle would probably work just as well, but the juice carton had a sturdier base. I used a corkscrew to make a small hole in the bottom. I filled the bottle and screwed the cap back on, then when it was on top of the enclosure I could unscrew the cap to adjust the dripping. It's probably not ideal for most setups, but as I'm around all day I can adjust it, as the flow varies depending on air temperature and the amount of water left in the bottle.

my hubby made me one using a powdered drink container and a t valve. Works great t valve lets me control how fast or slow it drips out.

I do not recommend ice - room temp warm water is more to their liking, and the purpose is for them to drink fully.

Never use ice with chams. You stress them out by dramatic change in temps. Just poke a tiny hole in the bottom of a cheap plastic solo cup. When poking the hole you don't want to go all the way through just enough so it barely drips.

The key part to a dripper is the valve!! They come in a ton of colors and sizes but they all perform the same task. They control flow (weather it be air, or in this case water)..

You can pretty much use any container you like. I prefer the flat-faced ones ( i feel it's just harder to seal on a curve).

I use a metal stake that just soo happens to be slightly small than the nipple for the valve . I use this to make my holes ( i heat it on the stove and then place it to where you want to make the hole. The hott metal will make a neat hole. You want to place the valve about 1" from the bottom of your container to give yourself some room for the tube you will use to enter the enclosure to dripp.. Now fit the valve, it should give a lil resistance to go in but this makes for a tight/snug fit. Then hott glue/super glue it in place to seal.

Let it dry overnight, then wrinse well with warm water, test for leaks and you good!!

I use the black vlaves, they are fairly cheap at most pet stores in the airation section ( i also like that they are barbed at the ends). The ones i found were in a pack of 10 for $4

we have not made one, we were leaving for the weekend and the petstore was out of the little dripper. I bought this at walmart, worked great, plenty of water for a couple of days, adjustable flow, light weight on the top of the screen cage. And cheap, less than $10.

I'd be a little concerned with the weight of 5 gallons of water ontop of a screened cage!!

I made a dripper similiar to that a few years back that i used to aclimate SaltWater fish... This is the thread.

I had it placed on top of a plastic hood light, it does not get hot and because it runs the width of the top, it distributed the weight, also, I only filled it to about 3 gallons.
