HUF HERP Utility Fan - Anyone?

Anybody ever use this? If so, how well does it work, is it adjustable to aim it up and down or is it fixed in one spot, and how quiet is it?

I was looking around for some fans a few months ago just to add a bit of airflow and came across these, but never asked about them. I've still never gotten a fan; not convinced I really need one. But I was still curious about them anyways because they would be nice to keep fixtures a bit cooler (not that mine overheat.... It's more of a personal preference kind of thing),

Anyone ever owned one?

I would ask Todd from LightYourReptiles. He is a super nice guy and knows his stuff and will answer your question.

I would but he is sick and not available today. Kinda wanting to make an order for some of his supplies today and didn't know if I should try out that fan or not.

If you do.... I would love to know how it works. He went out of his way to make sure the lights I ordered from him were right .He stands behind his products

Oh I know. I've ordered fixtures and bulbs from him before. I actually had a wiring problem in one of the sockets and the little golden connector piece ripped off. He sent me a new wire with a new socket, as well as a wire nut, and told me how to take off the old socket and replace with new one. He is deff great!

Hey there-

I actually have one of these....Todd recommended it as I was having some temp issues with my quad fixture. I like it because it helps create some air flow in my set-up without making a draft. I have mine secured with 3M tape to the top of my light fixture blowing horizontally towards the back of my enclosure. I can post a pic later (at work now). I made sure to watch the plants when I positioned it to make sure none of them were moving. I also placed my hand in the cage in several places juuuuust to make sure I want's creating a draft. My cage is in front of a wall, so if I positioned the fan just so it would hit the wall and blow back into the cage. Thoughtful placement took care of this.
The fan is veeeerrrrrry gentle and quiet.
Oh and I only keep it on when all four quad lights are on in the middle of the day. This was when my temps were a tad high.
I am sure Todd will pipe in here when he can. Can't say enough good things about him and his products!

I would love to see a pic of your encloser with the fan installed

Yep Yep. Or a YouTube video showcasing it so we can see and hear the performance. Can it be angled up or down or down it only stay in one single spot? It kind of looks like it swivels in one spot but I'm not certain.

I will post some pics tonight if I can get the time....I have been meaning to post set-up critique thread for a week now, just haven't found the time. It does not swivel....it comes with a clip, but I removed that and just taped the bottom. Cannot be angled.....unless it is clipped or taped at an angle.

A week? That's all you got? :giggle:

I've been meaning to post MY setup critique since I built my new cage back in June....:ROFLMAO:

Don't feel bad about a week. :p(y)

I've just been waiting for plants to grow out a little more. I had a few grasshoppers that went unmonitored for a day and completely destroyed one of my plants so I had to replace it, and I had to change a couple plants out that I didn't come to like with different ones. I also ordered a Jungle Dawn the other day to put on my cage as well to help throw some light to the back bottom corner where I have a fern that kept dying 2x because it's not getting enough light (they are bright indirect or partial shade plants and I had it in more shade than anything.) Thick foliage didn't allow my quad to shoot all the way down and still be bright enough to keep the fern alive because I have lots of plants. The Jungle Dawn will be here in a few days and that's gonna solve my problems, guaranteed. Those lights are the bomb! It won't shine directly on the fern, but more-so right next to it. Bright and indirect (y) Setup post is soon to come. I just knew what I WANTED to change, so I wanted to change that before I post anything here so it's all perfect 100% how I want it and officially complete.

Hot dang I'm on a role with these typos lately.... :coffee::eek::coffee:

Haha, I read right over that. My brain just filled in the corrected version, I wouldn't have ever noticed!

Yes one week today with my Stuart:love: I am obsessed with him. I have a dropcam on him and I can't stop watching it! Ok now I don't feel so bad but I will try to post the fan pic for sure tonight for you guys.
Yes, the lights are so good! I can't wait to see my plants shoot out so I can remove some of the fake stuff. Yikes on the grasshoppers! So far he has been annihilating everything I put in his cage in the morning as far as I know anyway:cautious: Waiting to find a roach walking around the house or something. Already dropped my cricket bin one morning (full of crickets) so I guess I am a certified cham ownero_O

Wait till you step on a horn worm you didn't know you dropped.and it makes this awful squish between your toes

I've had a plastic container lid and side break as I picked it up once, and I dropped it. The lid literally broke off as I picked it up and it kind of crumbled in my hands. So not really my fault, but there were about 50 crickets in it.... OMG I panicked and frantically got them up as fast as I could. The dog was a bit of help in locating them as well. (y) Good puppy.

I've never dropped my roach bin, but that's because it's all a plastic tote with a lid. That, and I treat the thing like it's highly reactive nitroglycerin.

I can imagine that would be like stepping in fresh dog doo...:eek:

So here it is. I have it sitting on the top of the quad blowing at an angle towards the heat lamp. It blows parallel to the top not into the cage. Just to improve air flow. No air blows into the cage really. No movement of leaves and I can't feel a draft. Seems to be working well. I hope this comes through ok I am posting this from my iPhone:-/
