You may have read that dial/analog hygrometers are junk and always go digital, etc...
I just wanted to put some information up because humidity is so vital in the husbandry of Chameleons.
The picture below is of 2 digital hygrometers both in place for 2 hours with the exact same sensor probe placement.
Quite a difference there, enough to create a false positive. The one with the lower % happens to be about a year old and is pretty damn accurate based on the humidity calibration test. I use it to do random checks on my calibrated hygrometers and check new ones before calibrating.
The fact that 1 is reading nicely and the other different by 13% is not a rarity. I have stopped buying digital hygrometers regardless of the brand. I buy the dial gauges that are cheap and usually read wrong out of the box. Why? because I can buy 3-4 of them for the cost of a digital hygrometer that can't be calibrated!
If you have a dial gauge in your enclosure it would benefit you if you check/calibrate your hygrometer!
Don't throw it away because you think its broke, just test it and adjust it!
