So, it has been a hectic week having adopted Ozzy and learning all about chameleons. I know have 4 more questions...1) How do you know when a chameleon is dehydrated? 2) How do you know when a chameleon is about to shed? 3) What is this white stuff around his face? is it him starting to shed or expelling salts? and 4) Since he has been starved do i start feeding slowly or do i start with a few cricket and increase over time? It feels like one problem after another. I know he has had a really bad start in life but today he seems 'off'. I am not going to give up but i am ready to have a complete nervous breakdown!!!!

1. Usually when they're dehydrated their eyes will be sunken in and their urates will be a yellowish orange. When they're hydrated their eyes should not be sunken in and their urates should be white.

2. They will become more dull. Their skin might also start to wrinkle. If your chameleon is young he will shed his whole body every month or so, but when they get older they shed in body parts, and more rarely.

3. We can't tell you unless you upload a picture. If it is around his nose it might be expelling salts. It could also be shedding, though.

4. Immediately feed him. I would give him a bit extra.

I know sunken in eyes is a sign of dehydration and when my Cham is about to shed his skin gets really wrinkled and if he is starving I would give him as much crickets as he wants

1) there are many i only two of them which are sunken eyes and a not pearl white urate which is the white stuff the comes with the poop

2)you can tell when a cham is about to shed when they start turning pale color and when this happens you should mist more than normal

3)that i dont know a picture would help maybe its shed idk sorry :(

4)i would just start feeding him at a regular pace every day if hes juvinile if hes an adult you feed once every other day but every cham likes "veriety" in there food crickets worms(mealworms, silkworms hornworms, superworms) roaches(dubai is the only i can think of)

hope this helped :)
