Are you saying its about 2" long??
You can feed it with pinhead crickets if that's the length. Gutload the crickets first with some greens and veggies and dust them with a phos.- free calcium powder.
It will need either direct sunlight (that does not pass through glass or plastic) or light from a UVB tube light (that also does not pass through glass or plastic). Exposure to UVB allows the chameleon to produce D3 which allows it to use the calcium.
The cage temperature for a baby should be in the mid 80's. Appropriate temps. are important for good digestion.
You can dust the insects with a vitamin powder twice a month. I use one with a beta carotene source of vitamin A because that won't build up in the system like preformed vitamin A will. However, there is controversy about whether beta carotene can be converted to vitamin A or not...so some people use a little preformed once in a while. Excess preformed vitamin A can prevent the D3 from doing its job and lead to MBD.
If the chameleon only gets UVB from tube lights, you may want to dust twice a month lightly with a phosphorous-free calcium/D3 powder...but be cautious since D3 can also build up in the system.
Water it by misting the cage a couple of times a day. Once its older than 3 or 4 months it can also have a dripper to provide water.
Where do you live that you were able to find a chameleon running free??
