3 male veileds in same cage all about 5 months old. bowl of meal worms. Dirt on top of the leaves you could tell hasn't been misted in days. Why keep animals when you don't know how 2. I try to help them out and they begin to tell me how all 3 humidity gauges in the cage are broke a 0. Try to tell them to use super worms instead of meal worms. They couldn't gave cared less. So I returned the crickets and everything else I bought and am done with all of them. I'll just order them off the Internet

I agree a lot of chain pet stores are just retarded for thinking everything just needs a glass tank and food to survive. I have talked to the manager at the petsmart near me and she says they aren't allowed to change anything so basically you have to tell it to the CEO

Unfortunately, the only way they'll stop selling chameleons in these horrible conditions is by the consumers not buying the chams there in the first place. No demand no supply.

I just wanted him to take care of them not buy them i learned mylesson with that. I wanted a water bottle to spray them and was going to feed them some super worms I was goin to buy but I was wrong and they were right so I returned about 300 bucks worth of supplies I was going to buy. I already stopped buying lighting stuff unless it's from Light your reptile. so I'll just have to find another little store that cares about their animals to buy crickets and stuff from.

It's even worse for the poor leopard geckos. We're talking ten per terrarium (which is under 6 inches wide and tall), SAND, one single hide for all of them, meal worms piled in one bowl (probably hasn't been cleaned out for weeks), no undertank heater whatsoever (key in leo digestion), and 110% CLUELESS employees.
I've only seen baby chams there once or twice, and there was no moisture in the cage, and no visible food. They were keeping them above large bark chips too, which, from what I understand, chams can accidently consume and get very ill.

To giant pet store chains, these animals aren't animals, they're products being used to make a quick buck off of people who haven't done their research, and just want something convenient - . -

That is just sad. I must be really lucky, though, because the few times I have been to the PetCo and more often to the independent pet store nearest to me, things really seemed to be correct. All of the animals (to my knowledge) appeared to be well cared for, and I even overheard the girl working there explaining at LENGTH to a customer how to care correctly for the reptile they were buying. I wanted to hug her! I just wish the ratio of good to bad pet super stores was flipped for the better.

Yeah there was 3 male veiled about 6 months I'd say in one cage. I was pissed. I'm no expert but I could tell a lot of stuff was off. I mean the plants in the cage were covered in dirt how hard is it to wipe them off and spray them with a hand sprayer and get the temp up to 80 and not 72. The guy tried to tell me super worms will eat them from the inside out lol that's when I left. All the animals are cared for terribly except for maybe 1 in 20 stores damn dirt bags

Then the solution starts with you no longer patronizing those stores like I did a long long time ago.

I get my crickets from a local bait shop. I also get my wax worms and butter worms at the same place. Petco and Petsmart sell crickets for 14 cents and 15 cents, respectively. I get mine from a bait shop for 4 cents a cricket, any size. Way cheaper than ordering them online, and they are guaranteed alive cuz they bag em up right there for you and are only grabbing the live ones. Can't beat that. 60 wax worms for $2.50. Then also 30 butter worms for $3.00. Nice and cheap. And all fresh and alive. So research any bait shops you may have nearby. Stop going to the big chains.
