I am afraid there isn't much hope for that chameleon. I would be surprised if it makes it through the night.

Any kind of help you try to give it will stress it out. Can it hold onto a branch? It would be more comfortable doing that than lying on a paper towel.. even if you set the branch on the paper towel.

Dra,

I can't tell you how much it meant to me that you cared enough to try and help. I am a realist but am still hopeful that Karma will pull through - even as scrawny as she is she is a fighter. I look forward to talking to you tomorrow.

i know

yeah it does not look good and i know they arnt suppose to have light at night but she was so cold and now she is moving around ill put a branch in there thats how i transported her to my house in that box and wanted to put a pic up asap she is awake eyes open but i dont think she will make it though the night...... which is sad stacy has been trying everything she had gotten her from the pet store i work at (i work the rescue not the store) and i have had to correct our "reptile specialist " on the environment she has been setting people up with bark water fountains and glass cages...... now in that whole thing what part is right...... none and she says fake plants and red lights .......... so then people come in and i take what i learned here and change those things or "recommend" (alot of people dont listen the second time around thinking that since the other girl has the title she is right but i try and spread ur guys knowledge :)

o my........
I am literally speechless.... At this moment, all I can say is try to make her feel as comfortable as possible.

I just posted on Stacy's thread before seeing these pictures.
I did not realize how far gone this chameleon was.
I hope for a miraculous recovery, but do not have much hope for her.
I'm not sure she could handle any treatment in her present condition ... if she makes it to the vet at all.

The sad reality is that this is the fate of most of the senegals that are imported into this country.

Dra, be very careful with this chameleon and any other reptiles you have in the house ... I hope she is quarantined far from any others and that you are taking precautions (washing your hands very well, using bleach, ammonia, etc to clean surfaces she has come in contact with)

Getting an imported senegal as "fresh" as possible .... meaning as soon as it comes in, and while the animal still appears to be healthy and active ... is the key to having success with cleaning and acclimating.
I have not done this yet myself .... but I know from other's experiences that starting with an animal that is already beginning to decline is not a good recipe for success.

I feel bad for you Stacy. We get attached to these special animals so quickly , and it sounds like you got some bad initial advice.

-Brad

Yes-please keep her far from any other animals like Brad said. It might be best to put her down, poor thing.

I am so sorry for the cham and for Stacy. I can see you two care about this little thing, but it doesn't look good. Please keep us posted.

yes she was

she was quarantined she wasn't ever aloud in the same room and my chams i havnt toughed and i have been washing my hands

Oh my god. Poor little thing. I hope the best for her, and Dra, you did a wonderful thing taking her to help her out.

Well Karma did not make it and we will miss her very much. I knew I should have gone with my gut that something was wrong but I listened to the wrong people - if I had only gotten here faster. Thank you all for your help and thoughts.

Dra - thank you sooooo much for trying to help, it really meant a lot to me and my kids - there are not many people like you in this world. I am sure that I will see you soon!
