Sorry everyone for posting this here but I know most of you have more than just chameleons. So I have had a spike for a few years. He's a full grown yellow phase bearded.... Real nice! Here's the question I stubbled upon some toads as I was doing yard work. I am from long island NY and have never used them as food, but I could imagine they would make a good little meal. Or am I mistaken. Anyone know ????? Again sorry for going off track a little but I appriciate the help.

Toads carry a list of parasites. Remember, adult beardies should be consuming more greens than proteins.

Julirs is correct, to keep a beardie healthy they should eat about 70% veggies when they are adults. I would be careful about feeding anything you don't know is healthy.

Great!! Thanks for the quick answer. I'm glad I got someone with experience to answer. Julris, you have helped me in the past with something else. Thanks!! I figured it wouldn't be a good idea. Just fun to watch but definately not worth the risk. I let the little buggers go. Thanks

I've heard toads could be posionous. I remember a article where some were licking toads to get a high effect.

cain(sp?) toads from australia are highly toxic and they have been killing off native wildlife. Also dart frogs are toxic, but I don't know about any others.

I have known of dogs and cats that have tried to bite frogs and have had to be taken to the vet because of they foam profusely after biting it.
