I think my jackson's isn't gonna make it.

Hi,
I've had my female jackson's for about 7 months. She is just over a year old and has recently gone downhill very quickly. I keep her outside during the summer and she is misted multiple times daily. She has been healthy as can be up until these past two weeks. She used to eat all the time, would hunt on her own, and never had a problem drinking. I noticed some weird behavior two weeks ago when she stopped moving around her cage and started closing one or both eyes during the day. She has been breathing through her mouth and developed some sort of eye infection. I have to rinse away this weird goop substance from her eye everyday because it creates a film over her eye. She has a few red spots in her mouth as well now and a weird yellow lump towards the back left portion of her jaw. She hasn't eaten in about a week. She still has a strong grip though and will keep her eyes open when handled or chilling on my hand. I do not handle her often. I give her calcium with d3 twice a month and calcium dusted crickets everyday. Her diet also includes superworms and occasional flies. She spit up a weird saliva like goop when she was drinking today and i noticed that when i touched her horn it was very loose. Almost like i could pull it out or snap it right off. And this goes for all three horns. she had a small yellow pussy like scab towards the front of her mouth right on her lip. I'm afraid this is the end of the road for her and it's too late for recovery. Can anyone help? Please?

For starters I am sorry for your situation. Now; you are in a dire situation and require a vet. Period. Thats the best and only advice. After your visit, keep us posted.

It sounds like a respiratory infection among other things. If your chameleon has three horns then wouldn't it be a male???? Let us know what the outcome is after you get her to a vet. Good luck to you.

It does seem like your chameleon needs a vet ASAP. After you get that going, you might want to fill in the How To Ask For Help form to see if there are ways you can improve your husbandry to help keep her healthy in the future.

@ Cchatron: i was at circle pet this afternoon, i purchased a zilla screen for my male panther chameleon and i spoke with one of the owners i guess and i told him about my Jackson chameleon both eyes are closed and one of the things that she mentioned about the skin turned kinda yellowish is due to internal infection or it can have parasites such as worms. The best advise we can give you is to take action! go to your local reptile vet as soon as you can. It is never too late until its over. What you are seeing with your chameleon is serious illness. Please do what is necessary and good luck! i hope he makes it.
