I want a chameleon.

Well, my dad said "I used to have a chameleon" so I'm guessing he's aware of what we'll need for it. The chameleon would stay in my room (which is actually warmer than the rest of the house) and the insects would stay in our laundry room, which is in the back of the house.
Hey, if its cool with them, i say go for it, but if I were you id get all the equipment first. Dont skimp. Get a quad light and a misting system. Also go with live plants and make sure that if your in a dry climate, get a cage with closed sides and back. Good luck!

Will do. I've heard that misting systems aren't very effective and a couple live plans along with misting the enclosure manually two or three times a day will do. Our climate is dry in the winter, humid in the summer. (I'm in Michigan.)

I hope you get a cool and healthy good boy or girl! I think getting a boy would be better because they're the ones with cool colors. Also i think you should search up on what type of breed chameleon you want because there is so many with a lot of different looks and colors, panther chameleon is the most colorful!

I'm getting a boy either way, because I think females seem more high maintenance and they don't live as long. I've pretty much already decided on getting a veiled chameleon, since they're not as cost effective and they're better for beginners. OH, and thank you.

Misting systems ARE very effective. Take a look at Mist King, very well built and extremely effective.

okay just make sure that if you get a young one then it will be very hard for you to tell if its a boy or a girl, there's a lot of people that don't know the difference and just try to sell one thinking it's a boy.

For veiled's all you have to look at is the tarcal spurs.

If you are willing to put in the time needed go for it. I have had my veiled for almost 3 years. I do not have a
misting system. Get the bigger dripper and set it to drip for as long as possible. A far as feeders I use crickets
as he's main diet. Buy them 500 or 1000 at a time in a smaller size than what you need a feed them good.
I have even bought them on e-bay with success but there are a lot of good sources. Then buy other feeders as needed and rotate them.
As my guy has gotten older he now loves fruit and veges. Squash, melons, strawberries, just keep trying different
things. I put them on the end of a small Popsicle stick and he chomps them down. This is all just my opinion
and what has worked for me.

Good luck
