I'm leaning towards Graceful Chameleon (Chamaeleo gracilis), but then a lot of images I've seen online look like the Flap-necked Chameleon (Chamaeleo dilepis)

These were found in central Uganda in savannah habitat and also along a forest edge in elephant grass. The above chameleon was very aggressive; hissing, biting and showing orange streaks on the throat. The below chameleon was docile. Same species?

Thanks all in advance to help.

Hi Ronan,

The chameleon in those photos is Chamaeleo gracilis, as you suspected. Its parietal crest is not enlarged resulting in a flat casque, while in Ch. dilepis the casque is typically convex in shape.
