hi again everyone i have been doing lots of reading and what not on veiled chams..i love them..i own a bearded female cham and am so in love with all the species themselves that i cant help but want to look at others..I was wondering if you guys had the choice between a male and a female veiled cham juvinile, which would you choose and why? this isnt for a breeding project or anything but just as a single pet (if you can call a cham that)

Male. They live longer and have less hassle with worrying about getting egg bound. Most males have nicer color also

If beginner and didnt intend to breed yet then male because they are so much more colourful than females, and males are bigger and I like when people see the male and freak out and call him a monster :p:rolleyes:

I, too, would vote male. Females have to be watched much more carefully - too little food is obviously bad, while too much leads to larger clutches of eggs and more stress on the female, and they'll generally lay eggs whether they've been mated or not. This is stressful on the cham and the owner, and leads to somewhat shorter lifespans in the females, on average.

I have both; one male and one female and I agree with everything that's been said above. Although I love them both!:D:D:D

Male, in any type of cham. I would always worry about egg binding in a female, plus you have to deal with laying bins, and food amounts. Males usually have more vibrant colours to them too.

I agree that females have much more personality. I was a beginner and I had a female veiled and she wound up living 8 years.

If you are HERE already, I think whatever you choose will be fine. Males are less work though, and usually look nicer.

I have the exact same experience as Brock, got a female first, she got to be quite old.

Females have a very nice pattern to them as well, and they have a special "personality", their own charm.

I too had a female first, and I currently have female number 2! Before my first cham I had not kept reptiles before, and as long as you do plenty of research you'll be fine - just choose the one that appeals to you most! Amy has just got her adult colouring and I think she's very pretty for a female!
