I'm terrified ! Possible RI ....

Hey all , recently I posted a thread on how my chameleon was blowing small puffs of air. Some said it was to scare me off or to blow away excess calcium and not RI because she showed no other symptoms . Well tonight I caught her sleeping with her mouth open and I'm terrified ! She has no Mucas and doesn't make any puff sounds anymore but her mouth was open for most the day and at night ! It can't be tempature issues because her lights are off at night . Is this early RI ? Can I prevent it ? Is it to late and I have to go to a vet ? Thanks all - calvin

Is she making any sort of clicking noises? When my veiled started showing signs of a respiratory infection (wheezing and clicking) I bumped up the temp and added a ceramic bulb and used it all day and night. Shortly after it went away. It worked for my girl friend's bearded dragon also. I've heard it working in a few other cases as well.

See what other members have to say. Only thing I could think of Is she's trying to regulate body temp. How hot is it at night in her cage?

I definitely would say her gaping all night is not normal. I could only think she would be too warm tonight otherwise. Which is a weird problem for a veiled, but I would check her ambient temps. Otherwise it may be something worth adding a low wattage ceramic heat emitter for just to see if bumping her temps for a while will help. It helps for most reptiles when they are fighting off an illness to bump temps a bit.

I hear no sounds from her what so ever . Her cage at night is around 60 degree

Then I would definitely worry she might be starting some sort of illness. Might want to get her checked out if you haven't already.
