In memory of Toby 'Tiny Triceratops' Jackson

Miss Lily

Chameleon Enthusiast
My sweet little Toby became suddenly poorly over the weekend. He went from pretty much ok to sleeping all day on Monday (which was bank holiday here in the UK). Tuesday morning he was still with us (but only just hanging in there) so I took him to the vets and we agreed that there was no coming back for him.

So, that's it! 8 years of sharing my life with chameleons is over. I can't do it any more, it hurts so much to lose them. They have been my 'thing' for so many years that it's hard to adjust to not having one. I have met so many lovely people and made some great lifelong friends throughout my cham journey. Thank you - you lovely people know who you are!

I'm so sorry you lost Toby :(. I understand your feeling. It does hurt so much to lose such special companions. Thanks for sharing so many great pictures and experiences over the years. Toby will be missed!

Rest In Paradise Little One.

So sorry for your loss. I've enjoyed your pictures so much on the forums over the years and I fell in love with Monty! They always take a piece of our heart with them when they go - and there is only so much heartache that we can take. Thanks for sharing all of your wonderful adventures with your chams!

I'm so sorry to hear about Toby - I know how much he was loved, along with your other cham babies. Hopefully you will still lurk around here from time to time giving us updates on your cresties! Best of luck, and sorry again for your loss.

Poor little Toby. Sleep tight, little guy.

I'm sorry you lost him - there's just something so special about Jax. Those little horns just dig into the heart.

Thank you. I see you have a Jax too - they are such sweet, gentle chameleons!
Yes... I'm pretty new to chameleons still.
Got my Jax for 4,5 month now and still learning a lot about them...

I still can't believe how much I worry for his health while he just seems to do just fine. I think I would be devastated too if i lost mine.

I'm so sorry to hear you've lost your Toby, my heart goes out to you and I can imagine totally how sad you must feel, I hope maybe in a while you might reconsider having another but I know the pain of losing an animal all to well , I mourn for them even today after 25 years and I know how you feel.
I'm so so sorry for you but remember the lovely happy times with your beautiful boy.
I'm just over the water in West Sussex by the way.
R.I.P little Toby Triceratops.

Hi! It's nice to find someone a bit closer to me!

Poor little guy, I've got a young one so I don't know how this feels but I know the day will come at some point and I'm dreading it. I hope you carry on sharing experiences and advice on the forums even if you don't continue as a keeper. Younger owners like myself do need reassurance and information from more experienced keepers. It's very valuable. I hope you're doing ok <3

Awww, thank you! I'll try and stick around. I remember only too well how it felt to be a new owner, and you are right - the help from more experienced owners is invaluable.

Many people fell in love with Monty, just as I had with a friend's Jackson before I got him. Sadly, Monty was just that bit extra special and he took a large chunk of my heart with him. Pixie is helping fill the void, but after her there will be no more chameleons. Unless another Jackson steals my heart.

If you really love your pets like we do it hurts so bad when they leave us that we never want another because we don't want to go through the pain of losing another. Eventually, I always have to weigh out all the pleasure that that bring me when I have them to decide if it's worth the pain when they leave. These little animals are very special and have a way of getting into your heart really fast.

So sorry for your loss. I completely understand your attachment and grief.
Hope your memories will be a source of joy in the future.
