Mine just (finally) learned how to negotiate 2" PVC.
He used to slide down this vertical; now he shimmies right up it.

Same with the horizontal; he used to slide off—now he just boogies right across...

He hasn't tried climbing the window mullions in quite a while—not sure how he fare there.

Hey, kids gotta learn, right? (Kidding!)

Of course I was concerned at first. I let him out a couple times a week for 3-4 hrs at a stretch. I'd check on him every few minutes, then the minutes turned into an hour or so.

He used to stick to going from plant to plant and playing 'gargoyle'.

As time went on, he just got stronger and stronger as he learned his way around the table & environs. And he learned to wrap his tail around things as a safety line.

One day we came out to check on him and there he was, boogying across the pipe. 🤷‍♂️

Are you both not scared of your chameleon falling?
😬
PVC pipes are not recommended. Same with things like bamboo. Slick surfaces they do not grip well. But plastic surfaces they have to use all their force to try to hold on to. Fall risk is serious with things like this which is why they are not recommended in the hobby.

1. Where is this written please?
2. He chooses to do it.
3. He has—and uses—his tail as a safety line, even though he's never needed it in this case.
4. He has never fallen from them, though he has fallen off of plants. In fact, the only times he ever has fallen is off of plants in his enclosure.
5. It would endanger him more if I tried to prevent him from climbing or remove him from the pipe.
